Jian Ware Style Tea Bowl

Wheel thrown Jian ware style tea bowl made in a porcelaneous stoneware. Reduction fired in a tea dust glaze; named as such because the particles that precipitate on the surface resemble the tea dust remaining after tea has been sorted and sifted. One of a kind. 

Jian ware was most popular during the Song Dynasty in China. The shapes were simple and tea bowls were glazed in dramatic, dark glazes, to provide contrast to the light foam created by whisking mo cha. 

Bowl measures approximately 5-1/2" in diameter and 2-3/4" tall. 

Microwave and dishwasher safe.
