Celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival a little early with us! We're partnering with the Coalition for a Better Chinese American Community (CBCAC) for a Blue & White Clay Carving Workshop at the Chinese American Museum of Chicago (CAMOC) on Saturday, September 7 from 1:00pm-3:30pm. Enjoy dim sum bites from Triple Crown and a welcome drink from our sponsor, Johnnie Walker.
In this clay carving workshop, you'll learn the inlay technique used to create Monsoon Pottery's signature Chinatown Collection. Danielle will give a presentation on the history of blue and white wares and the inlay technique. She'll talk about the power of traditional Asian symbols and motifs she references in her own work and encourage you to craft your own.
The Clay Carving Workshop includes:
- A two and a half hour workshop with hands-on instruction of the inlay technique
- One small porcelain plate for each participant to decorate
- A history lesson on inlay and blue & white wares
- Dim sum bites from Triple Crown
- A complimentary welcome cocktail from Johnnie Walker
- A $10 donation to CBCAC included in the ticket price
Participants are encouraged to bring ideas and line drawings to reference. Fired plates will be ready to pick up at CanalPOP! during their Autumn Moon Festival celebration on Saturday, September 21.
Please write any dietary restrictions in the "Order special instructions" form on the checkout page.
This event is for adults 21+. Tickets are non-refundable, but can be transferred to another guest. By purchasing a ticket, the participant understands that firing ceramics can be unpredictable and acknowledges that Monsoon Pottery will not offer refunds in the event of flawed firing results.
Photos are from a previous workshop at the Roof Crop. This event will be at the Chinese American Museum. Please drink responsibly.
