Wheel thrown porcelain Jian ware style tea bowl. Reduction fired in a tea dust glaze; named as such because the particles that precipitate on the surface resemble the tea dust remaining after tea has been sorted and sifted. One of a kind. 

Jian ware was most popular during the Song Dynasty in China. The shapes were simple and tea bowls were glazed in dramatic, dark glazes, to provide contrast to the light foam created by whisking mo cha. 

Numbered 10 of a series of 10. Limited edition. 

Microwave and dishwasher safe.

Measures 5-3/4" in diameter and 3" tall. Maximum liquid capacity is about 14 ounces.
